Yuri’s Night   Leave a comment

Logo-Shiny-YurisNightTonight is Yuri’s Night, an international celebration commemorating the flight of Yuri Gagarin in Vostok 1. On April 12, 1961, he orbited the Earth for the first time. Twenty years later, in 1981, the space shuttle Columbia took off for the first time. Around the world, parties will be held to celebrate when humanity left this planet for the first time.

Oddly, Ohio, birthplace of twenty-five astronauts, has but one party, in Cleveland.

I’m a fan and proponent of space exploration, and I think it is important to honor the day that it all started. So, even if there isn’t a party near you, Happy Yuri’s Night.
