Newport Aquarium   5 comments

My daughter commented that she hadn’t been to the Newport Aquarium in a while. While my wife had a dance performance. I took her. She decided to mimic me in taking photos.

Perhaps my favorite fish there is the lion fish. This predator is native to the Indian and Pacific Oceans, but are an invasive species in the Atlantic and Caribbean regions. It’s widely thought that Hurricane Andrew (1992) caused some to escape from an aquarium.

I liked how the turtle reflected in this picture.

These frogs were just hanging out.
Their only mammals were otters, which are among my favorite zoo animals.
Also, these lorikeets are quite colorful.
They have the jellyfish in one room, with visitor-controlled lights.

The tent pole animal at the Newport Aquarium are shark rays.

Of course, they have sharks…
…and rays.
We had a great time!

  1. Awww, what a great picture of the two of you!
The sharkrays are well named. They look exactly half shark and half ray.
    Great pics!

  2. What a sweet photo of you two.

And what fascinating creatures! I had never heard of shark rays before.
